Sana'a is the capital of Yemen, (in Arabic: Sana'a) and its largest city and one of the most important centers of the Sheba'an civilization and its monuments that date back thousands of years. It is considered one of the largest open museums in the world. The population of San'a is about 1.3 million, and the city is located at an altitude of 2350 above sea level. In December 1994, UNESCO announced the registration of the ancient city of Sanaa as a World Cultural Heritage Site and launched an international campaign to protect and preserve this heritage.
