2030 Winter Olympics
The 2030 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XXVI Winter Olympics, will be an international multisport event. It will be organized in a city designated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The new IOC bidding process was approved at the 134th session of the IOC on 24 June 2019 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The key proposals, driven by the relevant recommendations of the 2020 Olympic Agenda, are:
Establish a permanent and ongoing dialogue to explore and create interest between cities / regions / countries and National Olympic Committees for any Olympic event
Create two Future Venue Commissions (Summer and Winter Games) to monitor interest in future Olympic events and report to the IOC Executive Board
Give more influence to the IOC Session by making non-executive members of the board part of the Future Headquarters Committees. Stages of the dialog
According to the rules of conduct of the Future Headquarters Commission, the new IOC tendering system is divided into 2 stages of dialogue:
Ongoing dialogue: Uncompromising talks between the IOC and stakeholders (City / Region / Country / Olympic Council interested in hosting) regarding the hosting of future Olympic events.
Specific dialogue: Specific conversations with one or more stakeholders (called their preferred seat (s)), as instructed by the IOC Executive Board. This follows a recommendation from the Futures Headquarters Commission as a result of the ongoing dialogue.
