Murugan or Kartikeya (also called Subramanya, Skanda, Subramani, Muruga, Karthikeyan, Shanmughan and Shanmukha) is the Hindu god of war, victory, wisdom and love. He is the commander of the gods. Son of the god Shiva and Parvati, his brother is Ganeixa and his wives are Valli and Deivayanai.Murugan is worshiped mainly in areas with Tamil influences, especially southern India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Malaysia, Singapore and l Reunion Island. He is depicted with a sacred spear called the "Veil", although he may also carry other weapons. He is often depicted with six heads and his vahana (mount) is the peacock.
