The Pandora Papers (Pandora Papers) are a set of 11.9 million documents on tax evasion that constitute the largest leak of data on offshore companies in history. They were leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which announced them on October 2, 2021 and began making them public on October 3 of the same year. This entity had already reported five years earlier another international financial scandal, the Panama papers. Organizations described the data leak, equivalent to 2.9 terabytes of data, as the most extensive leak of financial secrets to date. The nearly 12 million files contained documents, images, emails and spreadsheets from 14 financial services companies in countries such as Panama, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates, surpassing the Panama Papers, leaked in 2016. with about 11.5 million confidential documents. According to media reports, about $ 32 million has been evaded, not counting real estate, art, jewelry and more. About 100 millionaires, 30 current and past political leaders, and about 300 public officials were mentioned in the first leaks on October 3, 2021. King Abd-Allah II of Jordan was one of the main figures mentioned in the papers: there are documents showing that he invested about $ 100 million in properties in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, in places like Malibu, London or Ascot. Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was also mentioned; according to the papers, Blair saved £ 312,000 in transfer tax on the purchase of a £ 6.45 million property in London by buying Romanstone International Limited, a company based in the British Virgin Islands. The papers also revealed how an office block owned by the family of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was sold on the Crown Estate, the real estate empire of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, for £ 66 million on year 2018, an operation in which the Alievs made a profit of £ 31 million. Other heads of state such as Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, and personalities such as Pep Guardiola and Julio Iglesias, among others, also appeared.
