Dalimil Klapka (22 May 1933 Prague – 14 June 2022 Prague) was a Czech actor and voice actor.

Biography

He graduated from the Jirásk Pedagogical Gymnasium. During his studies, he was engaged in amateur theater. In 1953, he was admitted to DAMU, which he successfully completed in 1957. He worked for 33 years in Smíchov's Realist Theater (today's Švand's Theater in Smíchov), where he started working even before completing his studies at DAMU. He devoted himself to theater and acting, which he taught at the Prague Conservatory between 1972 and 1993. He also worked at the Karlín Music Theatre, the Staré Město Theatre, the Dlouhá Theater, the Drama Club, and from April 2005 he worked at the Fidlovačka Theatre. Among other things, he also collaborated with Czech Radio and Czech television. Dalimil Klapka was also a great voice actor. For example, he lent his voice to the American actor Peter Falk in the role of Lieutenant Columbo in the famous TV series Columbo or to Grandpa Simpson and Principal Skinner, characters from the popular American animated series The Simpsons. He lived with his wife Stanka Klapková in Smíchov, had two sons and three adult grandchildren. He struggled with cancer in the last years of his life. He died on June 14, 2022, in the Long-term Sick Hospital in Motola.
