Klad (from the English clade, or from the Greek klados branch) is a designation for a group of organisms that includes a common ancestor and all descendants of him. On a phylogenetic tree, the pros appear as its branches. The real plus is therefore, by definition, holophyletic. Klad is created by the gradual evolution of organisms derived from a common ancestor. The phylogenetic classification of organisms based on positives is dealt with by cladistics.
