Sapphire of Istanbul

Sapphire of Istanbul is the tallest skyscraper in Turkey. It stands in the business district on the European side of Istanbul. It has 54 above-ground and 10 underground floors and its official height is 261 m. Its total floor area is about 160,000 m2. There are apartments in the building and commercial spaces on the lower floors. It is the first eco-friendly skyscraper in the country. The construction took place in the years 2006 - 2010. During the construction, a 42.5 m deep pit was dug, which is the deepest excavation pit dug in Turkey.
