The Palme d'Or (French: Palme d'Or) is the highest award given at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced by the organizing committee in 1955. Between 1939 and 1954, the highest award was called the Grand Prix of the International Film Festival (Grand Prix du Festival International du Film). Between 1964 and 1974, the Grand Prix du Festival.
