The Gerhard Kuhn Orgelbau company was a German organ building company in Esthal. It existed from 1978 to 2012.

Story

The company was founded in 1978 by Gerhard Kuhn (* January 27, 1943 in Esthal; † June 20, 2022). In 1967 Kuhn passed his journeyman's exam and in 1976 his master's exam to become an organ and harmonium builder. He spent his journeyman years at the Walcker, Scherpf and Wehr companies before setting up his own business in Esthal in 1978. A converted bus hall has served as a workshop here since 1985, from which a total of 26 new organs and 22 chest organs emerged. In addition, numerous works have been restored or rebuilt. His largest new building for St. Ludwig in Frankenthal (Palatinate) from 1988 has 46 sounding registers on three manuals and pedal. When Gerhard Kuhn retired on April 30, 2012, the company was dissolved. Kuhn also worked as an organist and choir director. He was also involved in local politics and worked on the municipal council and the municipal council. In the years 1996-2014 he was mayor of Esthal.
