Yuri Vasilyevich Shatunov
Yuri Vasilyevich Shatunov (Russian: Юрий Васильевич Шатунов, born September 6, 1973 in Kumertau, Soviet Union; † June 23, 2022 in Domodedovo, Russia) was a Russian singer. He was the main singer of the 80s band Laskowy Mai (Russian Ласковый май).
Shatunov was the son of Vasily Klimenko and Vera Shatunova. His father had Russian and Ukrainian ancestry, his mother was Bashkir; they divorced when Yuri was three years old; From then on he grew up with his mother and her parents. After his mother married a second time and the relationship between Yuri and his stepfather was difficult, his mother sent him to a boarding school in 1982. After the early death of his mother in 1984, Shatunov was first placed in the care of an orphanage and in 1986 at a boarding school in Orenburg, where he founded the cult group Laskowy Mai in the same year together with Sergei Kuznetsov (Russian: Сергей Борисович Кузнецов).
Laskowy Mai existed from 1986 and separated in 1992 due to internal disputes. Shatunov moved to Germany in 1996 and started a career as a solo singer. He has lived there with his family ever since.
He married his wife Svetlana in 2007; the couple has a son and a daughter.Shatunov died of a heart attack on June 23, 2022 at the age of 48.
