Agnes Jebet Tirop (Uasin Gishu, October 23, 1995-Iten, October 13, 2021) [1] was a Kenyan athlete, specialist in long distance races, world bronze medalist in 2017 and in 2019 in 10,000 m. [2]

Sports career

At the 2017 World Cup in London, she won the bronze medal in 10,000 meters, being behind the Ethiopians Almaz Ayana (gold) and Tirunesh Dibaba (silver). At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she came fourth in the 5000 meters. She made history by breaking the old 10km world record by 28 seconds at the Adizero Road To Records test in Germany, setting the new record at 30:01 minutes.

She was found dead at her home in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya, on October 13, 2021, with several stab wounds to her neck and abdomen. In principle, the suspicions would point to her husband as her main suspect. [3] [4]
