Beatrice Lorenzin (Rome, October 14, 1971) is an Italian politician, who has been the Minister of Health since April 28, 2013.

Career

Lorenzin was a member of the Freedom Party since 1996. [1] She was elected by the Rome city council in October 1997. [1] In April 1999, she became the Lazio regional coordinator of the Party's youth movement . [1] In May 2001, she was elected by the Rome city council, again. [1] She was then appointed head of the Forza Italia adult group and served in the mail until 2006. [2] She has been a member of the Parliament of the Italian Republic since 2008. [3] She was appointed Minister of Health, in the cabinet led by Prime Minister Enrico Letta on April 28, 2013. In November 2013, she left the Freedom Party and joined Nueva Democracia, led by Angelino Alfano. [4] [5] Lorenzin continued to work as Minister of Health in the cabinet formed by Matteo Renzi in February 2014. [ 6]
