Friends (stylized "F · R · I · E · N · D · S", also known in Latin America as Amigos and in Spain as Colegas during season 1) is an American television series created and produced by Marta Kauffman and David Crane . It aired for the first time on September 22, 1994 on the NBC network and ended on May 6, 2004.
The series is about the life of a group of friends - Chandler Bing, Phoebe Buffay, Monica Geller, Ross Geller, Rachel Green and Joey Tribbiani - who reside in Manhattan, New York. Both good and bad moments happen, but with a comical critique of the most momentous events of today. Immediately after the success in his country, the program began its diffusion around the world with similar results. In March 2019, it was considered by The Hollywood Reporter as the best series in history,  being also voted in 2018, according to Ranked, as the best sitcom of all time. 
The series has ten seasons of about 24 chapters each — except for the third and sixth seasons, which had 25 episodes, and the last, which had 18 chapters. Once finished, Joey, a sequel about the life of the eponymous character, was filmed in Los Angeles. It also had a brief crossover with the Mad About You series, when Jamie and Lisa broke into Central Perk and mistook Phoebe Buffay for her twin sister Ursula.
The cast members returned for a reunion special that premiered on HBO Max on May 27, 2021.
The story begins in a cafe in New York, Central Perk, in which the characters are: Monica Geller, Chandler Bing, Phoebe Buffay and Joey Tribbiani; where Ross Geller and finally Rachel Green are also incorporated with the passing of the minutes. This meeting begins a stage where six friends live in New York City. It is a comedy based on friendship, good and bad moments like: triumphs, love, the past and the future.
In the first season the six main characters are introduced: Chandler, Phoebe, Monica, Joey, Ross and Rachel, who arrives in Central Perk after leaving Barry, her fiancé, on her wedding day and moves to an apartment with her friend Monica, whom he met in high school. Ross, who had been in love with Rachel and also went to the same high school, constantly tries to tell her how he feels about her. However, many obstacles stand in his way, such as the fact that he is expecting a baby with his lesbian ex-wife Carol. Joey proves persistent fighting for an acting job, while Phoebe works as a masseur and has a trait of "madness" in her personality, due to her problems that began in her childhood when her mother committed suicide. Chandler breaks up with his girlfriend Janice, who returns frequently in later seasons. At the end of the season, Chandler accidentally reveals that Ross is in love with Rachel, and she realizes that she feels the same, she runs to tell him before he embarks for China but fails. The season ends with Rachel waiting at the airport for Ross's arrival from his trip to China.
The second season begins with Rachel waiting at the airport for Ross's arrival from China. She was going to declare her love for him, but she sees that she arrives accompanied by Julie, an old college classmate with whom he met again on the trip and is now her girlfriend. Rachel has several unsuccessful attempts to tell Ross that she has a crush on him. One night, Rachel has a blind date organized by Monica, she consumes too much alcohol and ends up calling Ross making her feelings clear.
