Olivia Hastings Holt (Germantown, Tennessee, August 5, 1997)[3] is an American actress and singer, known for her roles in Disney Channel series like Kickin' It and I Didn't Do It.[4] From 2018 to 2019, she played the lead role of Tandy Bowen / Dagger on the Freeform series Cloak & Dagger. Her debut EP, Olivia, was released through Hollywood Records on July 15, 2016.

Early Years

Holt was born in Germantown, Tennessee, the daughter of Mark and Kim Holt. She has two siblings, an older sister named Morgan, and a younger brother named Cade. At age three, her family moved to Nesbit, Mississippi, where she grew up after briefly living in Memphis, Tennessee. Growing up, she took gym classes for seven years. In 2011, she moved to Los Angeles with her family. She graduated from Oak Park High School in 2015.

Holt began her acting career in local theater productions.[4] At age 10 she began appearing in television commercials for such brands as Hasbro, Kidz Bop 14, Mattel, Bratz dolls, Littlest Pet Shop, and Girl Gourmet.[ 5] Possessing gymnastics skills, Holt was cast in the Disney XD martial arts comedy Kickin' It, which premiered on June 13, 2011.[6] The actress played the role of Kim in the series, appearing as the title character in the first three seasons, and as a special guest in three episodes in season 4.[7] She then starred in Girl vs. Monster, playing the lead, Skylar Lewis, a teenager who discovers that her family has long worked as monster hunters and that she is next in line.[8] Holt left Kickin' It as a series regular after the season 3 to star in the Disney Channel half-hour comedy series I Didn't Do It, which premiered on January 17, 2014. The series follows five friends, including Holt's character Lindy Watson, an athletic outcast nerd.[9] The series ended on October 16, 2015, after two seasons.[10][11] In January 2017, Holt was cast in the role of Tandy Bowen, leading lady in the Marvel series Comics Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.[12][13]

Cinema

In November 2014, Holt joined the cast of the drama Same Kind of Different as Me, directed by Michael Carney and starring Greg Kinnear and Renée Zellweger,[14] who play his character's parents in the film.[15] ] Paramount Pictures released the film on February 3, 2017.[16] In November 2015, it was announced that Holt had been cast in a lead role in the indie comedy Class Rank, directed by actor/director Eric Stoltz. [17] In May 2016, it was announced that she would star opposite Ross Lynch in the film Status Update, directed by Scott Speer, with filming beginning the following month in Vancouver.[18][19]

Music

Holt recorded three songs for the 2012 film Girl vs. Monster, in which she also starred. The songs were featured on the Make Your Mark: Ultimate Playlist compilation. He won a 2013 Radio Disney Music Award for Best Love Song for "Had Me @ Hello", which was featured in the film.[9] He also recorded a version of "Winter Wonderland" for the 2012 Disney Channel album. Holiday Playlist.[20] His song "Carry On" was the theme song for the 2014 Disneynature film Bears.[14]
