Porfirio Torres (San Juan de los Morros, September 21, 1940-Porlamar, October 13, 2021) [1] was a Venezuelan radio host.

Biography

Torres began his career in radio at age 18, starting with the program El tío de los jiraharas, on Radio Tropical, and later working on Radio Difusora de Venezuela and Radio Capital as a booth announcer. [2] [3] His greatest success in his career was as the narrator of Our Unusual Universe, broadcast since 1969 by the National Radio of Venezuela and the stations that make up the Éxitos and Onda circuits of the Unión Radio Circuit. [4] He received the National Prize for Culture in 2019 and the Aquiles Nazoa Prize in 2020, as well as several awards from the National College of Journalists (CNP). [5] He was also the voice of some advertising spots for radio and television. In this last medium, he was also an announcer for promotions of Venezolana de Televisión between 2001 and 2005.
