Hanover Region

The Hannover Region is a grouped community with special laws (Kommunalverband besonderer Art) within Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) in Germany. From November 1, 2001 it was formed with the populations of the Landkreis of Hannover around the free city of Hannover; the communal association brings together a large part of the Hannover areas and parts of the adjoining towns. Its main religion is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hannover (2,899,432 faithful) one of the 20 Protestant churches that belong to the Evangelical Church in Germany.
