Jüri Tarmak (Russian: Ю́ри Аа́дувич Та́рмак, Tallinn, Estonian SSR, Soviet Union, July 21, 1946-Tallinn, Estonia, June 22, 2022)[1] was a Soviet-Estonian athlete and Olympic medalist specializing in the high jump test, in which he became Olympic champion in 1972.[2]

Sports career

In the JJ. OO. in Munich 1972 he won the gold medal in the high jump, with a jump over 2.23 meters; he beat Germany's Stefan Junge (silver at 2.21m) and American Dwight Stones (bronze, also at 2.21m).
