Tamil (ت Tamil: தமிழ்) is one of the classical Dravidian languages. The language is spoken mainly by Tamils ​​in southern India and Sri Lanka, and among immigrant Tamils ​​in many other countries (especially the Malay Peninsula). In 1996, it was the 18th most widely spoken language in the world and was spoken by 74 million people worldwide.
