Gennady Eduardovich Burbulis (Russian: Геннадий Эдуардович Бурбулис, August 4, 1945 Pervouralsk, Soviet Union – June 19, 2022 Baku, Azerbaijan) was a Russian politician who served as his country's deputy prime minister after Boris Yeltsin came to power after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In January 1992, Burbulis signed the neighborhood agreement between Finland and Russia. In August 2007, Kainuun Sanomat reported that in the early 1990s, Burbulis had proposed to buy Karelia, which was handed over to Finland. After hearing the news, Burbulis denied it and considered taking legal action against Kainuu Sanom.
