Jari Leppä

Jari Juhani Leppä (born 24 June 1959 in Pertunmaa) is a Finnish politician and farmer. He served as Minister of Agriculture and Forestry from 5 May 2017 on three different governments until he resigned on 29 April 2022. Alder has been a Member of Parliament since the 1999 elections. Leppä has been sitting in the Pertunmaa Municipal Council since the 1992 elections, and since 1997 as chairman.


Alder is an agricultural technician by training (1979). He has been cultivating the land since 1980. In 2011, Leppä was the most representative of Parliament in receiving agricultural support. From 2007 to 2015, he was also a member of the Parliamentary Forum on International Affairs. He is also a member of Veikkaus' Supervisory Board. The President of the Republic appointed him Minister of Agriculture and Forestry to the Government of Sipilä on Friday, 5 May 2017. He has continued in the same position in the Governments of Rinte and Marini. In March 2022, Leppä announced that he was resigning from his political career and would not run in the 2023 parliamentary elections. At the end of April, the Center elected Antti Kurvinen as the new Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.


Leppä has been married to agrologist and teacher Katriina Lepä since 2002. They have one child. Leppä is a major in military rank (2014). Leppä is an avid summer theater enthusiast and plays every summer on the stage of Koirakivi Summer Theater.
