Uffe Ellemann-Jensen (1 November 1941 – 18 June 2022) was a Danish politician. He was the chairman of Venstre from 1984 to 1998 and the foreign minister of Denmark from 1982 to 1993. Ullemann-Jensen studied political science and worked as a journalist in newspapers and on television, from 1975 to 1976 he was the editor-in-chief of the daily Børsen. He represented the right-wing party Venstre in the parliament between 1977 and 2001. He supported the governing cooperation of his party when he served as its chairman from 1984 to 1998, and the conservative party's Poul Schlüter invited him to be foreign minister in his coalition government in 1984. Ellemann-Jensen continued as foreign minister in the next three governments as well. Ellemann-Jensen supported close NATO cooperation.
