The Wikimedia Movement’s partners are independent but formally recognized groups that aim to work together to support the Wikimedia Movement. The board of the Wikimedia Foundation has established three active models of movement collaboration: chapters, thematic organizations, and user groups. The purpose of the movement's partners is to organize and participate in the activities and support of the Wikimedia movement, such as regional conferences, publicity, editing events, hackathons, outreach, policy promotion, GLAM participation, and Wikimania. The Wikimedia Foundation accepts partners, but they are independent of it and have no legal control or responsibility for Wikimedia projects.
