Jonny Nilsson
Jonny Nilsson (February 9, 1943 in Gothenburg – June 22, 2022) was a Swedish speed skater, notably Olympic champion in the 10,000 meters in 1964.
Biography
In 1963, Jonny Nilsson won the All-Event World Championships in Karuizawa, Japan. He broke four world records that year, including three at the world championships. At the 1964 Winter Olympics, held in Innsbruck, Austria, he won the gold medal in the 10,000 meters. After breaking a fifth world record in 1965, Nilsson won the bronze medal at the all-round world championships in 1966. He entered the 1968 Winter Olympics without winning a medal.
