Tony DeMarco is an American boxer born January 14, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts and died in the same city on October 11, 2021.

Career

Turning professional in 1948, he became world welterweight champion on April 1, 1955 by beating Johnny Saxton by referee's stop on the 14th round but gave up his title in the following fight against Carmen Basilio in the 12th round. DeMarco also lost the rematch a few months later and ended his career in 1962 with a record of 58 wins against 12 losses and 1 draw.

Distinction

Basilio vs. DeMarco II was voted Fight of the Year in 1955.
