1648: the parliamentary rebellion begins in France. 1779: the Treaty of Teschen puts an end to the War of the Bavarian Succession between Prussia and Austria. 1871: in order to resolve the Roman question, the Kingdom of Italy promulgates the Law of Guarantees granting the Pope certain diplomatic and legal advantages after the annexation of his States; the law is rejected by Pius IX who considers himself a “prisoner in the Vatican”. 1888: The Golden Law abolishes slavery in Brazil. 2008: Bomb attacks hit Jaipur. 2017: canonization of Jacinta and François Marto, a century after the Virgin (statue) appeared to them for the first time, in Fátima (Portugal).
