January 23 - The short-lived Parthenopean Republic is proclaimed in Naples. March 1 - Napoleon sends a war message to Francis I claiming that he had allowed Suvorov's troops into his country. March 3 - Corfu's French garrison surrenders to the Russian-Turkish fleet led by Fyodor Fyodorovich Usakov. March 6 - Napoleon captures Jaffa. April 27 - Suvorov defeats General Moreau's army at the Battle of Cassano. May 21 - After two months of failed siege by Akko, Napoleon's troops retreat to Egypt.
