St. Catherine of Alexandria (c. 282 - 305) lived during the reign of Emperor Maximinus, a virgin and martyr from Alexandria.
According to legend, he did not want to participate as a Christian in the sacrifices made in honor of the idols, and he openly disobeyed the emperor's order. Therefore, they put him in prison and sent fifty learned men to win over the heathen, but the pious virgin defended his faith with such wisdom that all fifty became Christians. At first they wanted to smash it with a wheel with sharp knives, but it broke into pieces so they were beheaded. In Alexandria, Nov. 305. He died on the 24th or 25th. Its memorial day is November 25.
