Periodical publication
A periodical publication (periodical) is a publication designed for an unspecified period of time, which consists of successive sub-units (issues, booklets, volumes, years, etc.); these are usually distinguished from each other by their numbering, dating, chronological or other markings.

The international identification number of periodicals is the ISSN number.
