Jayapura Flood 2022

All events refer to East Indonesia Time. On January 6, 2022, Jayapura was hit by floods. Floods killed 8 residents.


At 22:50 January 6, 2022, floods hit a number of districts in Jayapura due to prolonged high-intensity rains. The affected districts are North Jayapura, South Jayapura, Abepura, Heram, and Muara Tami. Floods cause power outages.


A number of buildings affected by the flood were the Papua Governor's Office, Aryoko Hospital, and Youtefa Market. The flood initially killed one resident, which later increased to six to eight residents.


The Jayapura Regional Disaster Management Agency deployed three rubber boats and a multipurpose truck to evacuate the affected residents.
