2022 Jember Flood
On January 9, 2022, Jember, East Java, was hit by a flood. Floods killed 3 residents.
On January 9, 2022, floods hit a number of sub-districts in Jember due to the continuous rain that caused the Semangir River to overflow. The affected sub-districts are Kaliwates, Sempursari, Mangli, Rambi Puji, Kemiri, with the affected sub-districts, namely Kaliwates, Panti, and Rambi Puji.
The flood initially killed two residents identified as Sirat and Suliha, aged 50 and 47 respectively, who were from Kemiri, Panti. The victim then increased to three residents.
Regent Hendy Siswanto immediately visited the affected area a few hours after the flood hit Jember. He also monitors the situation through a team from the Jember Regional Disaster Management Agency who continues to report to him. He ordered related officials to deal with the impact of the flood. He also seeks to mitigate related to the handling of areas prone to flooding.
