The following is a list of South Korean Presidents since independence. The term president has been set at five years since 1988. It was previously set at four years 1948-1972, six years 1972-1981, and seven years 1981-1988. Since 1981, the president has been barred from re-election.

The Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea is a government in exile based in Shanghai, China. Although the current South Korean government declares that it is the successor of the government to strengthen its legitimacy, the government is not recognized internationally. Hong Jin is also known as Hong Myun-hui (홍면희). From March 12 to May 14, 2004, Prime Minister Goh Kun (고건) was the interim president. Since December 9, 2016, Prime Minister Hwang Gyo-ahn (황교안) has served as the acting president.
