Sebastian Kurz (born 27 August 1986) is an Austrian politician, who served as Chancellor of Austria from 2020-2021, a position he previously held from December 2017 to May 2019, replacing Christian Kern. Previously, Kurz served as Austrian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration for the period 2013-2017. He is a member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). Kurz first served as Chancellor of Austria at the age of 32, and in 2021, he will be 35. This made him the youngest head of government in the world, and even the youngest chancellor ever to serve in Austrian history.

Early life and education

Kurz was born in Vienna and raised in the city district of Meidling, where he lived. He entered the Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Erlgasse in 1996 and after his final examinations in 2004 Kurz completed obligatory military service. In 2011, he decided to study law at the University of Vienna and after that a career in politics.
