Verawaty Fajrin (born Verawaty Wiharjo, October 1, 1957 – November 21, 2021) was a famous Indonesian badminton player in the 1980s. She has won many titles in women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The players who have partnered with him are Imelda Wigoena, Ivanna Lie, Yanti Kusmiati, Bobby Ertanto, and Eddy Hartono. Verawati had entered politics as a member of the Advisory Council of the Greater Indonesia Movement Party since 2015.

Died

Verawaty died on November 21, 2021 at 06.58 WIB at Dharmais Hospital, Jakarta due to lung cancer. It is planned that Verawaty's body will be buried in the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery.

Personal life

Verawaty Wiharjo was originally a Protestant Christian, then on April 16, 1979, she converted to Islam following the beliefs of her husband whom she married in the same year. The name Fajrin behind her name is taken from the name of her husband, Fajrin Biduin Aham. Then, in 1981 Verawaty and her husband performed the pilgrimage.
