January 27 - Rome: the treaty between Italy and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia divides the city of Rijeka: Italy belongs to the hinterland and some suburbs, to Yugoslavia the area of Porto Barros
February 1: the Italian government recognizes the Soviet Union
February 2 - Chamonix (France): the International Ski Federation is founded during the Winter Olympics
February 12 - New York: the premiere of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue is staged
February 12 - Italy: the newspaper l'Unità, an organ of the Communist Party of Italy, is founded by Antonio Gramsci
February 26 - Munich The trial against Hitler and the coup leaders of November 1923 begins. Hitler's self-defense is so effective that the period of imprisonment is reduced from 5 years to 9 months.
March 3 - the Grand National Assembly of the constituted Republic of Turkey declares the caliphal institute decayed and exiles the last caliph, Abdul Megid II
April 5 - Italy: political elections take place in a climate of violence and irregularities. The National Fascist Party gets 66.5% of the votes.
April 17 - Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is founded.
May 12 - the secretary of the Italian Communist Party Antonio Gramsci, elected to the Chamber of Deputies, returns from Vienna to Italy.
May 30 - Giacomo Matteotti delivers his speech
June 10 - Italy: Matteotti crime. Giacomo Matteotti, a deputy of the Italian Socialist Party who had denounced serious electoral fraud is kidnapped and killed by the fascist squads. Matteotti's body will be found on August 16.
June 27 - Rome: the opposition of fascism approves a motion in which they undertake not to participate in the work of Parliament until a new government re-establishes legality. It is the protest of the Aventine.
21 September - Italy: the first section of the Autostrada dei Laghi, from Milan to Varese, the first motorway built in the world, is inaugurated in Lainate.
Burnett Hillman Streeter formulates the hypothesis of the four sources, a possible solution to the synoptic problem.
1st October - the weekly Il Giornalino is born
5 October - URI officially begins its broadcasts with a speech by Benito Mussolini. This is the advent of the radio also in Italy. The following day, Ines Viviani Donarelli will make the first announcement ever.
October 22: Toastmasters is founded.
21 December: Hitler leaves prison for good behavior in Landsberg am Lech.
December 30 - Edwin Hubble announces that most of the nebulae, previously observed with less powerful telescopes, were not part of our galaxy as previously believed, but were themselves galaxies, outside our Milky Way.
