David Julius

David Jay Julius (Brighton Beach, November 4, 1965) is an American physiologist, winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2021 together with Ardem Patapoutian. He is a lecturer at the University of California, San Francisco, and has won the 2010 Shaw Prize in Life Science and Medicine and the 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.

Biography

Born in 1955 in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, he graduated in Biology in 1977 from MIT in Boston. In 1984 he received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Berkeley. He is a lecturer at the University of California. He is a member of numerous institutes such as the National Academy of Sciences or the National Academy of Arts and Sciences.
