Guido Wilhelmus Imbens (Geldrop, September 3, 1963) is an American economist of Dutch origin, winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2021 together with David Card and Joshua Angrist.

Biography

Born in 1963 in the Netherlands, after graduating from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1983 and earning his PhD, he became a lecturer in economics at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2012. He taught at Harvard University, at UCLA and UC Berkley. Imbens specializes in econometrics and in particular in methods for drawing causal inferences. He has been director of Econometrica since 2019.
