The International Federation of Gymnastics (French: Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, English: International Federation of Gymnastics, FIG) is an international sports federation governing gymnastics. Founded on July 23, 1881 in Liege, Belgium, the federation is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is the oldest of the surviving international sports federations. Until 1921, only three countries, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, had joined, and at that time the name was the European Federation of Gymnastics. After non-European countries joined, it changed its current name. The sports administered by the International Gymnastics Federation include mechanical gymnastics, dumbling, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, aerobic gymnastics, and trampoline.
