DWG KIA was founded in May 2017 as a Korean League of Legends, Battleground, Rainbow Six Siege, and Valorant professional game team.

History

In the League of Legends Challengers Korea Summer 2018, they won their first championship since its foundation, and in the LCK Spring 2019 promotion match, they beat ESC Shane and Liv Sandbox one after another to confirm their first LCK promotion. And after being promoted to LCK, LCK Spring 2019 semi-play-off, LCK Summer 2019 play-off, League of Legends World Championship 2019 quarter-finals, 2019 LoL KeSPA Cup quarter-finals, LCK Spring 2020 semi-playoffs, and LCK Spring 2020 semi-playoffs, the results have steadily improved. With an overwhelming record of 16-2, they won the first LCK final ticket in history, and in the final, they won the first LCK championship trophy by winning 3-0 with perfect performance throughout the 3 sets against DRX, who was aiming for the championship in two years after LCK Spring 2018. It made them the first team from the Challengers to win the LCK. And with the LCK Summer 2020 win, he was assigned the No. 1 seed of the League of Legends World Championship 2020 LCK, and with an overwhelming record of 14 wins and 3 losses in 17 Worlds 2020 games, he gave the LCK the first World Championship in three years since Samsung Galaxy in 2017. Then, on December 22, 2020, Kia was confirmed as the naming sponsor, and the team name was changed to DWG KIA from 2021. After that, in the LCK Spring 2021, they went straight to the semi-finals as the first place in the regular season, defeated Hanwha Life Esports 3-0, which returned to the post-season stage after about 5 years after winning the LCK Summer 2016 in the semi-finals, and advanced to the LCK finals for the second time in a row. G esports, which was aiming for the 3rd championship in the LCK, won 3-0 and lifted the LCK championship cup for the second time in a row.
