October 18, 2021
The World's Fair 2020 (Arabic: إكسبو 2020, English: Expo 2020) is a world fair held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Dubai, United Arab Emirates was selected as the host city for the World Expo 2020, defeating Sao Paulo, Brazil, Izmir, Turkey, and Yekaterinburg, Russia, in the voting process of the International Exposition Organization (BIE) General Assembly held in Paris, France on November 27, 2013. It was originally scheduled to open from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021. However, on March 30, 2020, the International Expo Organization promoted a plan to postpone the 2020 World Expo by one year due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred around the world, and on May 29, 2020, It was passed by a 2/3 vote. As a result, the 2020 World's Fair became the first ever postponed World's Fair. However, for marketing and branding considerations, the name "World's Fair 2020" remains intact.
