1914 - The traveling pigeon goes extinct after Martha's death. 1923 - Great Kanto Earthquake: An earthquake occurs in the Kanto region of Japan. In the chaos right after the earthquake, 6,000 Koreans living in Japan were killed with bamboo spears wielded by military police and vigilantes. 1939 - World War II: Nazi Germany invades Poland. World War II outbreak. 1949 - The Syngman Rhee administration designated Yeosu Nights as the first banned song in Korea because it was against the social norm by taking the Yeosun incident from an anti-government perspective. 1952 - Republic of Korea implements the military conscription system. 1955 - The Republic of Korea conducts the first national census in history. 1955 - Started construction of Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge 1969 - Libya, Captain Muammar al-Gaddafi, leads a military coup, overthrows the monarchy and establishes a republic. 1980 - Chun Doo-hwan inaugurated as the 11th President of the Republic of Korea. 1983 - Korean Air Flight 007 is shot down by a Soviet Su-15 interceptor over Sakhalin Island, killing all 269 people on board. 1986 - Started domestic marketing of foreign tobacco products in Korea. 1996 - Two warships belonging to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force entered Busan for the first time since the end of World War II. 2003 - The government of the Republic of Korea announced the promotion of amendments to related tax laws, including the establishment of a comprehensive real estate tax. 2004 - The Beslan school hostage takes place in the Republic of North Ossetia, Russia. It ended on 3 September and at least 385 people died in the process. 2015 - A butane gas attack occurred at a middle school in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, and the school equipment was damaged.

(Bokjeong Station and Imae Station were not open at the time) 1997 - Ulsan Broadcasting Company ubc TV was established. 2011 - Culture Broadcasting merged with several local broadcasting companies, including Jinju Cultural Broadcasting and Changwon Cultural Broadcasting, and launched as MBC Gyeongnam. 2014 - Culture Broadcasting Company officially moved to a new office building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul after ending the era of Yeouido office building. 2015 - The high-speed rail link between Dandong and Shenyang in Liaoning Province, People's Republic of China, opened.
