1972 - Andean air disaster. A Uruguayan passenger plane crashes in the Andes. The 18 survivors are rescued on December 20. They appeared to have survived by using the remains of killed passengers as food.
1972 – An Aeroflot Ilyushin-62 passenger plane crashes outside Moscow. All 176 on board are killed.
1976 - A Boeing 707 cargo plane crashes into a school in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. 100 people die, including 93 school children.

54 - Tiberius Claudius Drusus Nero Germanicus, princeps of Rome since January 24, 41, is poisoned by his wife Julia Agrippina minor.
54 - Around 18:30 Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, son of Julia Agrippina minor, is accepted as princeps by the Praetorian Guard and the Senate can do nothing but grant Nero Claudius' titles, except the title pater patriae (father of patriotic) who is refused by the seventeen-year-old Nero himself because of his age.

1991 - In Chad, Interior Minister Maldom Bada Abbas is arrested in connection with a botched robbery of an army weapons depot earlier in the day. The curfew is imposed in the capital N'Djamena.
2001 - Foundation of the Flemish party N-VA.
1307 - On this Friday the 13th, all Templars in France are arrested by order of Philip the Fair, on false charges. Its purpose was to destroy the Order of the Templars.
