The Blauwtorentunnel is a tunnel in the Belgian city of Antwerp, located under the Leien at the National Bank. The Blauwtorentunnel starts on the N1 (Francelei) towards the south and ends up on the N184 (Van Eycklei). Traffic can only pass through the tunnel in this direction. The name is derived from the nearby Blauwtorenplein. The Blauwtorentunnel forms a complex with the Van Eycktunnel, the Gasthuistunnel and the underground car park 'Nationale Bank'. The tunnels were opened to traffic on January 14, 2008. The maximum height is 2.80 m, which means that trucks are not allowed, and the maximum speed is 30 km/h. The length of this tunnel is 241 m. The lighting in this tunnel is blue. This way, in the event of a breakdown or accident, the emergency services can quickly be directed to the correct tunnel.
