Meerke Vekterli

Meerke Laimi Thomasson Vekterli (born 1988) is a Norwegian, South Sami illustrator and graphic artist from Røyrvik in Trøndelag. She was nominated for the Nordic Council's Children and Youth Literature Prize in 2018 for the book Joekoen sjïehteles ryöjnesjæjja / A really good little reindeer herder from 2014, which she had made together with Anne-Grethe Leine Bientie. In 2022 she was awarded the Queen Sonja Print Award, in the category QSPA Inspirational Award, which is awarded to young promising Nordic graphic designers. She has a bachelor's degree in archeology from NTNU 2008–2011, and a bachelor's degree in art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, NTNU 2019–2022. She is the daughter of the artist Alfhild Vekterli and the Sami language activist Jonar Thomasson.
