Utsunomiya (Japanese: 宇 都 宮 市 - Utsunomiya-shi) is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture in the Kantō region of central Honshu, Japan, about 100 kilometers north of Tokyo. The place received city status on April 1, 1896.
