"Fryderyk" Music Award
The "Fryderyk" Music Award - music awards granted in Poland since 1995. Since 1999, they have been awarded by the Phonographic Academy established by the Audio-Video Producers Association. It consists of over 1,000 artists, music journalists and professionals from the Polish phonographic industry. The name of the award refers to the name of the Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin.
In the years 2007–2018, the Music Marketing Agency STX Jamboree was the co-organizer of the plebiscite. The ZAiKS Authors' Association has been the co-organizer since 2018.
Awarding a prize
Voting takes place in two rounds. In the first stage, members of the Academy vote for the items of their choice from the list of record publishers for a given year, which is based on applications sent by record companies. After this vote, nominations are made in each category (usually five). In the second round, members of the Academy vote again - this time only for one of the nominations in each category. Voting is secret and the results are summarized by an independent audit company. The prizes are awarded in March each year.
Statuette
Originally, the statuette resembled a caricature of Frederic Chopin with an earring in the ear, a white tailcoat and a large head. The present Fryderyk statuette was designed in 1996 and made by Dorota Dziekiewicz-Pilich. It is modeled on the artist's husband - Marcin Pilich.
