Vadim (Vladimir) Viktorovich Bakatin (Russian: Вадим Викторович Бакатин, born November 6, 1937 in Kisielovsk, died July 31, 2022 in Moscow) - Soviet politician, the last head of the KGB State Security Committee in the USSR after the failed coup against Mikhail Gorbachev. He was the Minister of Internal Affairs of the USSR in 1988–1990. Member of the CPSU from 1964, 1973-1975 2nd secretary of the CPSU Regional Committee in Kostroma, from March 1985 to May 1987 1st secretary of the CPSU Regional Committee in Kirov, from May 1987 to October 1988 1st secretary of the CPSU Regional Committee in Kostroma. Deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 11th term. He was the chairman of the KGB from August 23 to October 22, 1991. Decorated with the Order of Lenin and the Order of the "Mark of Honor".
