Jüri Tarmak (July 21, 1946 – June 22, 2022) was a Soviet athlete born in the then-Soviet Republic of Estonia, who specialized in the high jump. A student at Leningrad State University who trained at the Leningrad Dynamo, he began athletics in 1963 and joined the USSR athletics team in 1970. He won a silver medal at the 1971 European Indoor Athletics Championships in Sofia, and a bronze medal. at the 1972 European Indoor Athletics Championships in Grenoble, France. He competed for the USSR at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where he won the gold medal with the 2.23 m mark. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor by the Soviet government. Tarmak died on June 22, 2022, at the age of 75.
