Knin is a historic town in Šibenik-Knin County in Croatia, located near the source of the Krka River. Its population in the 2001 census was 10,633 in the city and 15,407 in the municipality, with 76.45% Croatian. Considering the average age of the resident population, Knin is the youngest city in Croatia. The city was from 1991 to 1995 the capital of the Serbian Republic of Krajina. It was known as Burno (Latin: Burnum) in the Roman period.
