Saturn IB is an American rocket that was used by NASA in the Apollo project. It is an improved version of Saturn I, with a more powerful first stage and Saturn IVB second stage (the same used in the Saturn V rocket) replacing the Saturn IV. It was used in unmanned orbit tests of the Apollo Command and Service Module and the Apollo Lunar Module, and on the Apollo 7, Apollo-Soyuz, Skylab II, Skylab III, and Skylab IV missions. It was a cheaper and less powerful version than the Saturn V.
