Theresa Berganza
Teresa Berganza Vargas (16 March 1933 in Madrid – 13 May 2022 in San Lorenzo de El Escorial) was a Spanish mezzo-soprano, considered one of the greatest of all time in the interpretations of Cherubino, Dorabella, Cenerentola or Carmen.
Biography
Berganza began her brilliant career at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in 1957. She continues her career as a recitalist worldwide and as a pedagogue. She counts among her students names like Maria Bayo and Jorge Chaminé.
The mezzo-soprano came to Brazil in 2009, where she gave master classes and was honored in a recital at Theatro São Pedro in São Paulo.
Teresa Berganza passed away in San Lorenzo del Escorial on May 13, 2022.
